Busy busy busy

Vacations are never really vacations when you have a load of school work that needs to get finished, and I wasn't able to squeeze it all in last week either, so now here I am, scrambling to get it all done before I'm completely overwhelmed again with classes. On the plus side I ordered a new laptop, so fully-functional keyboard here I come! Now with that done I can save up for a new camera...

Luckily I was able to find some time to finish an illustration, begin a rough for a linoleum block print (my preciousssss) and another pencil landscape. I still only have the very basis for another ocean girl sketched out. Hopefully there'll be more signs of life from that soon. As soon as I finish my salamander research poster, study for exams and bee data analysis. Until then, Bree out :)

Great movie

This isn't in line with what I usually post but I've got to say it. Warm Bodies is an awesome movie. Definitely my favorite new movie, hands-down best zombie flick.
Official poster
Why did I love this movie so much? Metaphor. Beautifully blatant. And maybe its just the movies I've been watching, but most movies seem to be loosing this ability to apply to our day to day lives. One of my friends says that people today are becoming, or already are zombies (and I agree, she's been doing her research on this).
This was very thought provoking and intriguing, which is impressive considering this is in the comedy category. Kudos Hollywood.

And end mini-rant. Going to start working on a skirt and sketch out a new oil painting. Tomorrow a trip to Letchworth gorge :) It's good to be on spring break.

Jellyfish Girl

Hehehe, I love jellyfish. This was inspired by a friend's Tumblr post about wishing they could float through the air and be cuddle-able.
Because who wouldn't want to cuddle a jellyfish? (I'll admit though, I would prefer an octopus that could do this, love those little buggers) This may turn into a series... Working with acrylics was pretty neat, but there were a few times I almost just flailed across the paper with paint because well... acrylics are nothing like watercolor. Once you put color down it stays there and you have to paint over which is a pain. Definitely a learning experience.
Tomorrow I leave for home, my last spring break ever. And I will be working, painting and hopefully some kolrosing through most of it with any luck. Maybe some hiking and skiing if I'm lucky.
Until then I have to find something to eat before a Peter Mulvey concert(!), which I've been looking foreword to for the last year, since seeing him last spring.
Here is him preforming "Black Rabbit"
     Excited XD Bree out, chickadees
